SUP Englewood took our large group out of 27. They did such a professional job in educating our group of the area and what we might see. Danny was extremely informative and very pleasant and for an hour and a half, our group was very pleased about our experience. We saw dolphins, manatees, and plenty of birds. I highly recommend for anyone looking for an awesome experience, whether is a party of two, or a whole group. You will have an amazing time on the water!

Had an awesome time on the Kayak Eco Tour with SUP Englewood today! Danny was a great guide. Super knowledgeable, easygoing, and kept the tour fun the whole time.We saw manatees, dolphins, and plenty of other local wildlife, which was really cool. One of the best parts was stopping at Don Pedro Island to walk the beach and hunt for shark teeth. Danny shared a lot of interesting information about the area without making it feel like a lecture. If you're in the Englewood area, I definitely recommend this tour. It was a great mix of kayaking, wildlife, and beach time, and it ended up being one of our favorite things we've done on our trip.

Don’t think twice! Just go! I decided I wanted to be a kayaker, however I’ve never done it! We booked a 12:30 tour and headed over. Fantastic experience from the start! Book online, sign the waiver online and just show up. Tye was our fabulously informative guide today. He started out by teaching us about the oars (that’s key fyi) how to control the kayak with them. Soon we were on our way! Our first 10 minutes included dolphins! Right alongside us! I cannot even count how many manatees we saw! As we were paddling along we pulled up to land, docked our kayaks and walked a very short distance to the most amazing turquoise waters I’ve ever seen and a Private Beach! Tye allowed us to go into the gulf and helped me find shark teeth! He is so knowledgeable about birds, sea life, Florida history! Defiantly go visit! ALSO!! Tye took pictures of us and videos and sent them to us through email! Dont be afraid to try new things!

Our guide Jeff was welcoming, supportive and very knowledgable about the area. He welcomed any and all questions. We had a fantastic ecotour of Don Pedro park and its waterways. We saw a dolphin, manatee and jumping fish!My daughter rented a single person kayak. They have sit-on-top kayaks and SUP for rent. I would recommend a two person kayak when going out with kids. Her single kayak was $49.50 for 9am to 1:00pm. She struggled with the paddle handle since there’s no padding, her hand kept sliding down. If you have your own paddles you may want to consider bringing it or asking if they have grips available. The pace was just right for my novice level teenager and we were able to stop and walk across for a quick swim in the gulf. From there you can see other islands. This was a very enjoyable trip and I would recommend it!

We had a wonderful experience on our canoe tour today! Even though we didn’t have a reservation, everything was arranged quickly and smoothly. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were especially great with our child, took their time to explain everything, and made sure we felt comfortable before setting off. It never felt rushed or like a mass operation – the personal attention was much appreciated. The route was beautiful, and we were lucky enough to see dolphins, sea turtle nests, and even find shark teeth along the way. It was a fantastic adventure! We highly recommend this tour and would definitely come back again. We had so much fun. Thank you for a memorable experience! 😊🚣‍♀️🐬🦈🐢

We had a fantastic time at Don Pedro Island State Park, especially thanks to SUP Englewood. We rented a tandem kayak and paddled to the island. The staff were so incredibly friendly and welcoming during the rental process, and that continued through every interaction we had. Once we got paperwork and payment squared away, we were sent outside for a quick paddling and safety lesson. Then we walked down to the water where another staff member gave us a quick map lesson and shared lots of tips and tricks for seeing wildlife like dolphins, manatees, osprey, and more. They made the entire experience easy and enjoyable.I highly recommend renting from SUP Englewood and paddling over the Don Pedro island. The views along the way are amazing, and the beach on the island is quiet, almost secluded, and beautiful with white sand and beach morning glories.

The mangrove tunnel was a little hard to navigate with the long oars and some of the branches poking out but that’s not their fault ( just giving info for future kayakers). We had such an amazing experience on our kayaking tour through the mangrove tunnels with SUP Englewood! From start to finish, everything was well-organized and enjoyable. Our guide, Danny, truly made the trip special. He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the local wildlife and environment. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does, and it made the experience even more engaging and memorable. We always felt safe and well taken care of, while still having an absolute blast out on the water. One of the highlights was seeing so much wildlife up close—dolphins, manatees, starfish, redfish, mullet, and a variety of beautiful birds. It felt like a true Florida nature adventure!Danny also made sure to take photos of us which made my day since I’m usually taking the photos and never in them. Thank you!!Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing, and educational outdoor experience. We would definitely do it again!

SUP Englewood gave us a great kayaking experience with our wonderful guide, Tye! We saw dolphins, many birds and a manatee. The private beach was an added bonus. Thanks for the memories.

WHAT WILL YOU SEE ON A GUIDED KAYAK ECO TOUR?

You can expect to see more marine life on a guided kayak tour than paddling solo. Kayak tour guides are efficient at spotting creatures under the water. So what can you expect to see when kayaking? Every trip is different therefore we cannot guarantee sightings.

COMMONLY SPOTTED MARINE CREATURES AND WILDLIFE:

The kayaking tour route is dependent on tides, and wind conditions. Therefore, each trip varies slightly. Some tours may visit the on-site mangrove tunnel or the beach side of Don Pedro Island. If you have a preference, please call us as we can discuss dates, times and tides to offer you the optimal experience for your group. Every kayak tour is a new adventure! What will you discover on yours?

Don Pedro Island State Park Kayak Tour

Kayak Tours Available Daily

Kayak tours explore the barrier island of Don Pedro Island State Park. This trip launches from the state park land base and continues into Lemon Bay Aquatic Preserve. The area is surrounded by mangroves, wildlife, and marine mammals.

Kayak with Manatees & Dolphins

Sightings are frequent and common

The gentle presence of manatees and the playful spirit of dolphins can turn an ordinary day into an unforgettable adventure. Snap some photos as you paddle alongside these magnificent creatures. Our Certified Guardian Guides ensure that all interactions are conducted with the utmost respect for marine life.

Kayak through Mangroves

Explore the mangrove pathway to Hidden Lake! View a coastal lagoon and all the wildlife that comprise mangrove ecosystems.

Mangrove ecosystems are not just visually stunning, they are vital for environmental health. As you paddle under the protective canopy of the mangroves, view the intricate root systems. These roots provide shelter and are a breeding grounds for an array of wildlife. As you kayak, keep an eye out for snowy egrets, little blue herons, green herons, and the vibrant roseate spoonbills.

What will you discover while paddling Don Pedro Island?

Paddling to Don Pedro Island is suggested at any paddling skill level. Launching from the Land Base section of the park, the island kayak landing is roughly 1.25 miles away. Along the way, there is an abundance of sealife and mangrove jungle to explore. Our most common sightings consist of dolphins, manatees, live shells, and sea stars. Expanses of seagrass beds carpet the bottom between Don Pedro Island and the Land Base. This is home to the smallest of shrimp and crabs up to the largest of gamefish and stingrays. You will also find plenty of coastal birds fishing in these same areas. The silence of a kayak or paddle board allows for the opportunity of up-close encounters with wildlife. Witness nature like you have never experienced before.
Services are available by reservation at the Don Pedro Island State Park and include SUP Tours, Kayak Tours, Water Sport Rentals, Kayak Rentals, and Paddle Board Rentals.
Don Pedro Island is nearby Gasparilla Island, Placida, and is located in the greater Englewood area. It is less than an hour from Punta Gorda, Sarasota, Cape Coral and Fort Myers. Which is convenient for locals and vacationers in the area.

Kayak Tour FAQ's

How much are kayak tours?
Group kayak tours are $65 per person. Private kayak tours & off-site kayak tours are $85 per person.

SUP Englewood requires children 13 and under be with an adult in a tandem kayak for group tours. Private tours offer more safety for younger paddlers to venture out on their own equipment. We find that lighter paddlers have increased difficulty in wind and tidal conditions. Please contact us at (941) 265-2925 to book a private tour for your family to enjoy the waterways safely.

No, you do not have to take a tour.

Where can I rent kayaks?

We also offer kayak rentals in Englewood, Boca Grande and Manasota Key.

What are the rates for kayak rentals?

Kayak rentals are available by Half Day (4 hour) and Full Day (8 hour) increments. We also offer daily and multiple day rentals. Please visit our kayak rental page to learn more.

We recommend guided kayak tours for the following situations:

  • You want to learn more about the environment
  • To discover more marine life and sea creatures when paddling
  • If you have people in your party that have medical conditions, inability to swim, or lack kayaking/paddling skills and abilities. Our tour guides are trained to handle difficult situations on the water and your safety is paramount to us.
  • We also recommend guided trips if you have young children or a large party going out on the water. It can be hard to maintain a large groups safety when there’s varying skill levels. Again, this is another to have a trained guide help ensure your safety.

We recommend leaving valuables in the car. We have seen many phones drop into the water. It’s a sad experience for our guests! A waterproof case does not stop items from sinking to the bottom of the water which sometimes be very deep.

Yes! Your kayak tour guide will take photos during the paddling trip. If you’re comfortable with Facebook then the pictures will be uploaded into an album there. If you do not want photos on social media please let us know and we’ll accommodate another option.

All kayak equipment, paddles, and vests are included.

Trips are between 2 to 2.5 hours long.

Bring the following with you:

  • Water (plan to be hydrated prior to paddling)
  • A light snack to take with you (nuts, chips, fruit)
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Clothing appropriate for sun sensitive skin
  • Any medication you may need during a trip

No, you do not. Please let your tour guide know so they are prepared in the event you fall into the water. We also ask that you wear your life vest throughout the paddling trip.

That’s no problem. If they have experience they can join a group tour. However, if it’s their first time paddling, or first time in a tidal waterway, please book a private tour. Others on the group trip are there for environmental education and not interested in paddle boarding instruction.

INTERESTED IN A GROUP RATE?

If your group wants a group tour rate, please book kayaks on the Paddle Board Tour which focus on instruction plus environmental education.
