🌿 Coffee & Conservation Special Event: Mangrove Walk with a Florida State Park Biologist
Join us on February 5th at Don Pedro Island State Park for a biologist-led mangrove walk that goes well beyond a casual nature stroll.
Led by Florida State Park Biologist Jacob Wozny, this interactive walk will dive into the why behind mangroves—not just what they are. Expect real science, real conservation insight, and candid discussion about how these ecosystems protect coastlines, support fisheries, and respond to storms, sea-level rise, and human impact.
This event is part of our Coffee and Conservation special programming at Don Pedro Island State Park. Unlike traditional lectures, these park-based events are intentionally hands-on, small-group, and conversational, allowing participants to ask questions, observe details up close, and engage directly with experts in the field.
What to expect:
-
- Guided walk through mangrove habitat with a state park biologist
- Insight into mangrove ecology, wildlife connections, and coastal resilience
- Discussion on current challenges facing Florida’s coastal ecosystems
- An informal, interactive format designed for curiosity—not classrooms
We’ll continue offering select Coffee & Conservation events at Don Pedro Island State Park on varying dates and times, each with a more immersive, on-site experience. Our monthly Coffee & Conservation series at the Englewood Chamber of Commerce will also continue as our ongoing community education hub.
If you’re looking for conservation education that’s grounded, honest, and rooted in place, this one’s worth putting on your calendar.
